According to the survey, 42% of CEOs and well-off finance managers figure artificial intelligence could “destroy humanity five to a decade from this point.” As per reports, 119 CEOs from various organizations, including Walmart, Coca-Cola, Xerox, Zoom, and some more, partook in the review. Yale professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld described the startling results as “pretty dark and alarming.”
As per the report, over 34% of CEOs believed that AI might potentially wipe out mankind in ten years, while only 8% believed it could happen in as little as five. A solace was provided by the roughly 58 percent of CEOs who claimed that AI will never replace people and that they are “not worried.”
Weeks after prominent tech entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and even the founder of OpenAI warned about the dangers of AI, the findings have just now come to light. A statement warning of the “extinction” risk from AI was just recently signed by a number of luminaries in the AI business.
Sam Altman, the founder of ChatGPT, Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “godfather of AI,” Elon Musk, and numerous other top Google and Microsoft officials all signed the declaration.
These IT pioneers argued that society must take precautions to protect itself from the risks posed by AI. “The assertion said, “Relieving the risk of extinction from artificial intelligence ought to be a global priority next to other cultural scale risks like pandemics and atomic conflict.
In fact, Musk warned in one of his tweets that the AI war would soon put an end to humanity while the world was going crazy over ChatGPT. It seems he wasn’t joking at the time. Particularly now that Musk has signed an open letter calling for a six-month moratorium on the development of AI systems.
