At the Monday Whole Senate a meeting with Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan was stopped from proposing the Digital Asset Bill 2025.
According to the Constitution, only the national government has the power to suggest such laws, according to Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.
The deputy Chairperson of the Senate set the bill aside after the Legal Minister’s comments. Until the federal government itself forces the measure to be discussed on the Senate’s surface, its future is still up in the air.
In addition to establishing virtual resource zones that would guarantee financial security, safeguard supporters, and stop criminal activity, the Virtual Assets Bill 2025 seeks to govern the creation, use, trading purposes and use of online assets within Pakistan. It also lays out the legal foundation for the digital rupee to be accepted as valid currency.
