Bill Gates, the world’s richest man is reported to have donated $4.6bn to the world’s largest private charity organization Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation founded in 2000 by Bill gates and his wife, Guardian reports.
According to US Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the donated money is not specified to be given to any particular recipient but it is speculated that they money would go to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation setup by the couple in 2000 with $5bn funding.
The Donated share is about 5% of his current $90bn fortune and this gift reduces Bill Gates stake in Microsoft as well.
Bill and Melinda Gates have donated $35bn from 1994. The charity work started with $16bn worth of Microsoft shares donation in 1999 and later on another $5.1bn was gifted the following year.
Before the latest gift, the Gates Foundation is now the world’s largest private charity with $40.3bn of funds.
