Data protection is a major worry for 33% of firms globally and 61 percent of firms in Pakistan, according to a survey by top cyber security firm Radar. A large number of firms globally consider enabling data protection, protecting complicated tech environments, and productivity loss to be the most troubling business challenges. This is due to the expanding demands and requirements for IT security, according to the most current IT Security Economics research.
Pakistan’s IT Security Challenges
Data privacy is a top business issue in Pakistan, and businesses frequently identify problems with company outsourcing. The Radar of IT Security Economic study evaluates the problems, budget changes, and security incidents that IT security directors faced annually.
Research on IT Security in 27 Countries
Interviews with IT and IT security specialists from firms of all sizes and sectors were used to construct this research. 27 nations from Europe, the Asia-Pacific area, Latin America, North America, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) region, including Pakistan, took part in the study.
Because frequently experienced employees misplace their devices and see data leaks from company networks due to internal as well as external causes, respondents felt worried about this.Â
Weak IT security impacts
According to research, 20% of Pakistani businesses and 38% of businesses globally believe that lost productivity and downtime are the most serious business issues brought on by weak IT security. The main cause of this issue is the length of time it takes to determine and address threats.
Furthermore, outsourcing of business processes problems are cited as the top worry by 19% of Pakistani firms.
Threats to IT security
According to 33% of those surveyed globally and 9% in Pakistan, protecting complex technical settings and ensuring access to information were also top concerns.Respondents identified the growing number of events involving non-computing connected devices and improper usage of cybersecurity solutions that reveal systems as two of the primary IT issues creating this difficulty.
Applying Simple Security Steps
The following simple actions may be taken by firms of any size
- Create strong, one-of-a-kind account passwords.
- Make frequent backups of important information.
- Update your software regularly to guard against weaknesses in security.
Make certain that every employee is aware of the fundamentals of scamming and how to spot doubtful emails.
Comprehensive Information Security
Firms must protect all facets of their business from possible threats. Because a single click on an unsecured link or an error in a worker’s system might have disastrous effects, attackers no longer only use zero-day attacks.
According to Alexey Vovk, Director of Information Security at Kaspersky Lab this highlights the idea that information security must be based on an integrated and systemic approach, rather than confined to the execution of certain point-specific methods.
