In the recent article discussing the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.23.8.2 update, we learned about an exciting new feature in development that will allow users to lock their chats. This feature will give users the ability to protect specific chats with a passcode or fingerprint, ensuring that nobody can access them without permission.
In the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.5 update, we discovered that WhatsApp is now working on an entry point to open and manage locked chats. you will be able to choose which chats to lock directly within the chat info section. Once locked, the chat will be listed within the “Locked chats” section, and its entry point will be located within the chat list.
this feature adds an extra level of privacy for confidential chats, allowing users to protect their messages from unauthorized access. To further enhance privacy if someone tries to gain unauthorized access to a locked chat the user will be prompted to clear the chat before being granted access. Additionally, this feature will ensure that any media files shared within a locked chat, such as photos and videos, are not automatically saved to the device’s gallery.
As This feature is still in under development phase and it will be included in a future update of the app.
