The reports state that China has acquired 731 million internet users with 53.1 percent of the population online. For the end of 2016, the latest figure shows that it has nearly doubled the 2009 tally. It shows data from the official China Internet Network Information Centre. The information indicates that China’s mobile internet users have reached to 695 million. As compared to other web users, a much stronger growth has been seen for mobile internet users. Although at workplaces and schools, there is an extensive use of laptops and PCs but still 95.1% of the total internet users access the web mainly through mobile devices.
No end to WeChat:
WeChat is the most popular app in China. With the passage of time, people are turning more towards services like WeChat, Alipay, and Apple Pay etc. for online and in-store payments. Ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Didi are being used by 168 million people. WeChat being the most popular is being used by 80% of the internet users.
