It is been one year since Facebook rolled out Workplace, a part of Facebook social network designed specifically for businesses and organizations. The idea behind Workplace was to take on the likes of Microsoft and other collaborating tools and software and make it applicable within organizations for everyone to connect.
With 30,000 organizations using workplace and over 1 million groups actively using it, Facebook has taken workplace to the next level.
Today the company is releasing a standalone desktop application for Workplace chat that includes the basic collaboration tools such as group video chat to enable up to 50 people for interactive video conference. Although this feature was already available in Facebook Workplace but was limited to 1 to 1 video conversations and Live Video Broadcast.
Overall design of a place is also improved and Facebook has made it consistent across multiple platforms including mobile apps and web. The demand of workplace clear suggests that Facebook will enhance the feature with lot more integrations in the future to make it one stop collaboration tool for business.
