Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricket team captain commonly known as ‘Dada’ has refused to remove Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s portrait from Eden Gardens, a cricket stadium in Calcutta.
Dada is facing a lot of criticism for his decision and is termed as an anti-national for the decision.
The unfortunate, deadly Pulwama attack on Thursday, February 14 has worsened the relationship between India and Pakistan. The attack took the lives of at least 40 soldiers and the relationship between the two neighboring countries have gone from bad to worse.
The tension has affected cricket too. In India, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and the PCA Stadium in Mohali have removed the pictures of Imran Khan, current Pakistan’s Prime Minister.
Sourav Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), has decided not to remove the portrait of Prime Minister Imran Khan who is also a former cricketer.
As Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly rarely backed down. And he seems still not to do so, refusing the BJP demand to remove Imran Khan’s portrait from Eden Gardens: https://t.co/LMpbXvc8SS
