Our beliefs shape our perspective in life but it is very often that we actually know that our beliefs are accurate. But like some negative emotions, sometimes our beliefs turn toxic. These toxic beliefs start to diminish out self-esteem and we begin to believe the false truth people claim about us. The worst thing is that most of us who have toxic beliefs aren’t even aware of them until we end up with depression and high anxiety issues.
Following are the five common toxic beliefs we need to get rid of,
Linking happiness:
One of the common beliefs among most of us is that we link our happiness with the achievement of certain goals. We keep chasing after our dreams, speculations, strategies etc. in pursuit of attaining happiness. But in doing so, we let go of all the moments which can truly make us happy. The delicacy and beauty of life speed pass us in search of future which is not even present.
Accepting the darker emotions:
We try to negate out emotions such as anxiety, fear, or sadness, thinking they might go away. But instead they become stronger. But if we accept these emotions, we can make them weaker. These emotions can teach us to remain motivated when we feel we will rather collapse.
Too late to make a change:
It is never too late to make a change as every moment is the opportunity to change who we are and our circumstances in life.
Achieving perfection:
Perfection is something that never lets get anything done. It doesn’t teach and we never get anything right thing about perfection. Therefore a better strategy is to do your best and be real.
Don’t let others control you:
Understand completely that no one can make you feel a certain way. For keeping yourself away from needless suffering, stay immune to the opinions and actions of others.
