An annual distributed game jam which is inspired by the Nordic Game jam is known as the Global Game Jam (GGJ). It is an effort to bring together all the elements of creativity, experimentation, and collaboration. It is the largest game event of the world which gives the participants to gather and develop ideas, form small groups, create innovative games, and forward them to their peers as well as to the global community.
This weekend, this Global game Jam is providing an opportunity for people to explore the process of development including programming, iterative design, artistic expression or narrative exploration. This jam is known for helping foster new friendships, increase confidence, and opportunities within a community. It is an intellectual challenge which invites people to test their skills for developing, creating, and designing a new game in the time span of 48 hours. It stimulates collaboration among people and encourages them to participate.
GGJ takes place:
This is a three day event which allows participants to go home and take rest. Participants are required to attend the entire duration of the even as they have to complete the game. The GGJ is open on Friday, January 20th at 11 am and goes until midnight that day. During the GGJ, the website remains opens for 24 hours.

Food:
Participants are allowed to bring in their own food but are it also available in the nearby places. The major food outlets of Islamabad are very close to the GGJ venue but also coffee/tea will be available throughout the duration.
Restrictions:
Participants should be 18 years of age or older or should be accompanied by a guardian. There is no on-site security for this purpose. For this site, 30 slots are currently available.

Requirements:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops especially in cases where they licenses of any software such as Unity. A range of older laptops are available by the organizers with the software such as Adobe Creative Suite, visual Studio, and MS Office. Various development environments are supported by these computers such as Java, Python, Processing, Game Maker, C#, and HTML5/JavaScript.
For beginners:
The organizers welcome people who don’t know how to program but can provide other assets including sound, art, etc. The experienced players who want to learn more are most welcomed on this platform. Tabletop games such as board, card, live action etc will also be made.
Skills required:
GGJ is an environment to try new things so it’s great to have knowledge in programming and gaming design, visual art, sound, music and in writing.
