From studying in IIT Kharagpur to becoming the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai has inspired millions of people to keep on dreaming big and working hard. The recent evidence show that his dream run is still going strong. His hard work has been appreciated by Google by offering him a compensation package out of this world.
For Sundar Pichai’s services in 2016, Google has paid him a cool $200 million which is almost double than last year. Last year Pichai received a salary of $650,000 which is slightly less than the $652,500 he earned during 2015. Google’s shares are reaching a high record up to 22.5% whereas the net income rose to 19% as the company maintained its spot of the top seller of Internet advertising. But last year, the shares of its parent company Alphabet underperformed the broader market for tech. in 2016, Alphabet’s shares rose up to 5% and the Nasdaq Composite Index went up to 10%. Because of this raise, Alphabet’s CEO Ruth Porat also enjoyed a significant raise last year. This makes Sundar Pichai not the only one to receive a big raise in income.
Also during last year, one more Google executive gained a huge compensation. Currently, the senior vice president for Google’s Cloud Operations Diane Greene earned a compensation of $43.7 million last year, most of it through two stock awards making it $42.8 million.
The first-quarter sales and profit were reported by Alphabet on Thursday that surpassed the Wall Street expectations.
