Facebook introduced several new, advanced features for its platform, Instagram and Messenger during the F8 annual Developer Conference hosted this week. Here is the summary of most important feature announcement.
Clear history
After the privacy issue that hit Facebook by storm. FB will be rolling out a clear history tool that will allow users to clear their browsing history on the social media platform. According to Mark Zuckerberg, this is the kind of control his company believes users should always have.
Watch Party
Watch Party, a video tool that lets multiple users watch the same video simultaneously and also be able to comment. Only a small group of beta users has access to the tool right now as it is in a testing phase.
Groups tab – Join Group button
Facebook is introducing a new Groups tab to make Groups “More Central” and will also be introducing a “Join Group” button that developers can include on websites as well in emails.
Dating service
A unique dating service where Facebook matches will be made based on similarities in users’ profiles. Who would have anticipated this feature from Facebook but its a perfect example how Facebook wants to become one stop resource for every need.
Instagram is all set to get a unique design upgrade. It was also announced that the app is getting video chat for one-to-one and group conversations. The video chat will also get AR camera effects.
Messenger
Facebook will also be launching branded AR experiences for advertisers in Messenger chat.
WhatsApp, world biggest messaging platform, will also get AR camera effects and a group video calling feature. Mark Zuckerberg also thanked WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum, who announced his resignation in April.
Facebook Analytics
New features of Facebook Analytics will include auto-detected funnels to identify paths that lead to sales conversions, audience insights.
In-app purchases, instant Games
Facebook announced that in-app purchases (IAP) are now available on its Instant Games platform for Android, Facebook.
Facebook login updates
Facebook announced new updates to Facebook’s login rules for apps.
Facebook Workplaces integrations
Several new third-party integrations for Workplaces, Facebook’s work management platform, including HubSpot, Marketo, Adobe, PayChex and SurveyMonkey were also announced.
New AR Studio updates
Facebook launched a new version of its AR Studio.
Oculus Go
Facebook announced it was shipping its Oculus Go VR headset. The headset is supported with 1000+ pre installed apps and is priced at $199. All F8 attendees were gifted a free Oculus Go.
