How to feel happy in winters?

For most of the people, winter time feels like a bit down and it is the time of the year when depression rates increase. This seasonally-induced depression is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) but affects only 1-2% of the population severely. But everyone in this time of the year feels a bit depressed. For people who severally get affected by the seasonal depression, they need professional help. But for people who generally feel a little down in winters, following are the ways that help them to stay happy when it is cold and dark outside.

1- Take advantage of the sunlight:

According to psychologist and SAD expert Kelly Rohan, you must take advantage of the sunlight as soon as you get up in the morning. A thirty minute walk in the morning can remove your winter sadness and you will feel fresh and much relaxed.

2- Stick to your schedule:

You may feel like ditching your gym routine because of the cold winter but make an effort not to change your physical activities. Scientists have proved that exercise is a natural antidote that keeps us away from anxiety and depression. You may feel like putting extra layers to stay warm. But by exercising, you can stay light and feel energetic instead of allowing the dark and cold winter to make you lazy and depressed.

3- Socialize:

These cold months of the year make us feel staying home and undercover as the best option. But this increases sadness and takes us towards severe depression. Therefore, do not discontinue seeing people, set appointments, and go out to spend time with friends.
