Reporter Gurman of Bloomberg has shared subtleties on Apple’s upcoming iOS 18, as most would consider being normal to make its presentation at the Worldwide WWDC meeting one month from now. Gurman claims that iOS 18 will have refined AI features like those found on Android smartphones. These will include AI-powered applications like voice memo transcription, improved photo editing features, and article summarization, among others.
Gurman also mentioned enhancements to Siri’s conversational skills in the next iOS release. Apple wants to improve the efficiency and naturalness of Siri’s interactions by adding functionalities that are meant to support users in their day-to-day activities by means of what they call “proactive intelligence.” The goal of this project is to provide features like voice note transcription, quick news item summaries, and notification summaries to enhance existing capabilities such as app suggestions and automated calendar updates.

Gurman made it clear that Apple wants to give on-device AI processing top priority in order to improve performance and customer privacy. Even with its usage of cloud services hosted in data centers furnished with top-tier Apple silicon chips, Apple continues to prioritize on-device processing optimization.
Contrary to earlier rumors, Apple is not allegedly planning to include a ChatGPT-style chatbot in its future AI features, unlike other competitors. Apple executives have admitted that the business is working internally to improve its reputation in the AI space.
