He has produced rankings and identified five key industries that offer a variety of employment opportunities with thousands of job openings, much less competition, and, in some cases, salaries as high as $150,000: government (900 openings), leisure and hospitality (1100 openings), trade, transportation and utilities (1051 openings), education and health services (1986 openings)
1. Professional Business Services
According to Bramwell, “the professional business services sector is broad, encompassing a broad spectrum of professions including consulting, legal services, accounting, and marketing.” “In this field, job titles include project managers, consultants, attorneys, accountants, and marketing experts. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and project management are among the necessary abilities. Although average pay can vary based on the position and degree of experience, they typically fall between $50,000 and $150,000 annually.
2. Health and Education Services
As per Bramwell, this industry comprises an extensive array of employment prospects. He explains, “Job titles may include teachers, nurses, therapists, medical assistants, and healthcare administrators.” Strong communication skills, empathy, medical knowledge (for roles in the healthcare industry), and organizational abilities are among the key skills in demand in this field. The average salary can range from $30,000 to $100,000 or more per year, depending on the exact role and experience level.
3. Trade, Transportation and Utilities
Retail sales associates, truck drivers, warehouse workers, electricians, and utility technicians are just a few of the industries that are included in this sector, according to Bramwell, which also notes that logistics, transportation, and energy are among the many other industries that fall under this umbrella. He says that “skills like customer service and attention to detail are essential.” While technical knowledge is necessary for utility positions, certain roles require physical stamina. Salary ranges from minimum wage to over $70,000 annually, depending on the industry and role.
4. Government
Bramwell points out that municipal, state, and federal government organizations provide a wide range of employment options in a number of industries, such as public services, law enforcement, administration, and healthcare. He notes that “job titles may include customer service representatives, tour guides, event planners, hotel staff, and restaurant workers.” Customer service, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to adjust to shifting demands are among the necessary abilities. Depending on the exact role and region, average salaries in this sector can vary greatly, from minimum wage to over $50,000 annually.
