Elon Musk‘s satellite internet service, Starlink, has started working at a hospital in the Gaza Strip, as Musk announced on his X account. He mentioned that Israel and the United Arab Emirates supported the service’s launch.
What is Musk Starlink’s service?
Who authorized it to operate in GAZA?
Earlier in February, the Ministry of Communications in Israel authorized Starlink to operate in the country. The aim is to provide broadband capabilities to government bodies, local authorities, and emergency teams in case of disruptions in the wired or cellular networks. At the same time, agreements were made for Starlink to extend its services to the Gaza Strip. Security officials approved the deployment of one unit of the service to a field hospital established by the United Arab Emirates in Rafah.
While Musk didn’t explicitly mention this hospital in his announcement, it appears to be the same facility referred to by the Communications Ministry. The service has recently begun operations there.
