Seniors who think retirement doesn’t suit them and still working

Recently, we have grown accustomed to the idea that older people enjoy a life of leisure. They enjoy every moment of their life by spending leisure time watching TV, pay more attention to housework and food preparation whereas other people have to make time for such activities from their work. But there are some people for whom the pendulum seems to be swinging the other way i.e. despite their age; they aren’t ready for a life of leisure.

Australia’s David Goodall:

Profession: Scientist

Age: 103 years

He is a researcher and a botanist and is now working as an honorary research associate at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. In 1935 he completed his Bachelor of Science and received his Ph.D. in 1941. In 2016, he was offered work at home as the journey to work involved a 90-minute commute and the university was concerned about his health. He was shifted to an office on another campus near his home so that he could continue working on his position.

New York’s Anthony Mancinelli:

Profession: Barber

Age: 106 years

This man appeared in the Guinness World Records in 2012 for being the oldest practicing barber. He started working in 1947 and was diagnosed with a lung infection at the age of 27 which was a result of inhaling hair clippings. But his sickness never stopped him from continuing his work.

India’s Mastanamma:

Profession: YouTuber

Age: 106 years

Mastanamma is famous for her YouTube videos on her channel in which she teaches the art of cooking. The unique thing about her is that she never talks while cooking in the videos.

Japan’s Shigeaki Hinohara:

Profession: Doctor

Age: 105 years

The 105 year old works as a doctor at the St Luke’s International Hospital and is also a philanthropist. His profile revealed that it is normal for him to stay up till 5 a.m. to write.  He then sleeps for an hour and then wakes up. After a glass of milk and a cup of coffee, he continues with his appointments of everyday.

New York’s Jack Bertrand Weinstein:

Profession: Judge

Age: 95 years

During the Second World War, Jack served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. From 1952 to 1998, he taught as a professor at the Columbia Law School. He is now rendering his services as a U.S. federal judge in New York.

Russia’s Alla Ilyinichna Levushkina:

Profession: Surgeon

Age: 89 years

She works as a full-time doctor at Ryazan Hospital in Russia and operates four times a week. Now, she is helped by an assistant and uses a sigh enlarger due to growing age.
