It seems that Microsoft is making a big push with Teams. Microsoft Corp’s Teams application is expected to replace Skype for Businesses as the company’s primary teamwork software. This step by Microsoft has been taken against the threat of Slack in the workplace collaboration market, Reuters reports.
For Teams, the company announced that the new Skype voice and video technology add advance calling capabilities to users. It is also provided with an advanced instant messaging tool that is bundled in Microsoft office 365 for professionals. According to the company, the application will evolve as the core communications client and it will provide the best experience to users for their video, voice, and meetings. For Microsoft, the workplace collaboration market has become more competitive with the addition of Slack. The company has been offering services to professionals for years for working together online. Microsoft still leads the 36.8 percent of the market share but Slack has gained immense popularity and now claims to have 5.3 percent of the market share.
Microsoft is focusing on diverting its Subscription-based Office 365 users to Teams and is working on loading it with more communication features. The Microsoft’s push towards making Team the best app in all regards is definitely going to put pressure on Slack but that’s what everyone has to face in the competitive market.
