Unlike any ordinary teenager, Malala Yousafzai has numerous accomplishments under her belt. She has become the renowned education activist around the world and has won the Nobel peace prize for her efforts. Malala became a supporter for girl’s education when she herself was too young. So far, Malala has won at least 25 prestigious awards including the Children’s Peace Prize in 2011 and the National Youth Peace Prize award in 2011.
Recently, a school in Texas is all set to rename itself after this young Pakistani activist after a unanimous decision taken by the U.S. districts system. It has been decided that the Elementary School 51 in the states of Texas to be renamed after Malala Yousafzai Elementary School by the Fort Bed ISD board of trustees. For this purpose, a meeting was held last week in which trustee and the board secretory Dave Rosenthal met with teachers, parents, and administrators to decide upon the name of the school with the youngest Nobel Laureate’s name being finalized.
Rosenthal stated that the school has been named after the young lady in Pakistan who stood up for education and was not treated very well. She has accomplished a lot after since, therefore, the community members have thought of her name as very inspiring for the school. It has also been revealed that Malala’s work is in the line with the benchmark for the selection of the name as it includes making an important contribution in the society.
Malala Yousafzai aligns for lending prestige and status to an institution of learning, attaining prominence locally or national in the area of education, art, science, political science, military achievements, or Texas historical achievements.
Malala’s efforts are for educating all girls and not the few privileged ones. This will help to have gender equality which can only be started by sending our girls to school.
