In seven countries, the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry has declared that visa stickers will be replaced by electronic visas.
According to the ministry, the Kingdom’s missions in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, and Indonesia began using e-visas with QR codes on May 1st.
The actions are a part of continuous attempts to “automate processes, improve the ministry’s consular services, and develop the mechanism for issuing work, residency, and visit visas.”
Saudi Arabia has lately improved the visa application process and loosened visa requirements in an effort to draw more tourists and foreign companies.
Additionally, it coincides with discussions about a potential regional Schengen visa that would apply to all members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
