Twitter has announced that it has now opened up the application process for verified status (blue badge). This feature (just like Facebook Blue tick for verified profiles) was only available for celebrities and other high-profiles.
Good news is, now any Twitter user can fill an online application and request for their account to be verified.
The Blue badge icon tells other users about an authentic, verified profile.
Any account which is of public interest can be verified now. The examples of verified accounts includes public figures, media figures, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, business, sports etc.
“We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification,” Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter’s vice president of user services.
“We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience.”
