The huge rate of unemployment all over the world is causing serious concerns. More people are unemployed today than ever before, surprisingly in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.
One of the reasons is outsourcing projects, and manufacturing to countries like China, India, and Pakistan because of low labor costs. Sadly, these countries are unable to do justice because of economic constraints. While China is battling Coronavirus, India and Pakistan are in the midst of security, and domestic problems.
However, freelancing and self-employment are on the rise. More than ever before, courtesy internet. People are using the power of websites, and social media to reach out to their target audience. The use of different mediums actually makes the task easier because of low advertising costs and also saving hundreds of thousands of dollars of office costs such as paying full-time salaries, paying utility bills, etc.
The Internet has also facilitated freelancing. With the emergence and growth of different freelance marketplaces, people are learning online skills and offering them as services to clients who post small to medium-sized jobs.
From administrative jobs to high-end skilled project requirements, people are empowering themselves by offering services as a freelancer. Some have made millions online, and others still learning but progressing quickly because of the huge opportunities presented to them.
Freelancing is one avenue, the internet provides many other earning opportunities. The opportunities to have your own e-Commerce store by selling dropshipping products, using the power of Facebook to sell a service or product, and then blogging are picking up pace everywhere.
I started the BeingGuru blog 3 years back. Now it is not only one of the most prominent blogs and is building new audiences in different countries.
Just to add, I am actually a freelancer who was able to successfully transform his freelancing career into an entrepreneurship mode with multiple online startups. All of this would not have been possible without the internet.
Have you ever noticed, Uber, Airbnb, Facebook, Alibaba, Alibaba, Netflix, and Instagram have common?
Do you know what it is?
None of the above companies own their own inventory. Uber does not have a car. Airbnb does not have its own inventory. Facebook makes money through advertisement because it has connected 2.4 billion all over the world. Netflix does not own any program and Instagram does not have its own picture.
Alibaba does not own a single product yet Jack Ma has become the richest man. In the era before the internet, Jack Ma led a life full of poverty, and disappointments.
All are using the power of the internet not only to make money for themselves but also to empower billions of people worldwide.
Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world. Amazon also empowers people using the power of the internet.
