The business behind the instant messaging service WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would allow users to transfer files without an internet connection. The new feature would build on the functionality, security, and user experience that the firm has already improved with Meta.
Up until the most recent update, using any social media app without internet access seemed impossible. Meta, a company owned by Mark Zuckerberg, is working on a new feature that will alter users’ file-sharing experience.
WhatsApp Offline Mode
According to information provided by an insider, the social media site is developing a new function that would let users share documents, music, films, and images even while they are not online.
Screenshots taken from the most recent Android beta of WhatsApp provide details regarding the permissions required for this feature. According to the leaks, users will be able to turn off the phone’s ability to use Bluetooth to identify adjacent devices for local file sharing.
The new, groundbreaking function will encrypt shared files and hide phone numbers to protect user privacy and security. However, it will still require access to system files, the photo gallery, and location data.
The company is developing technology that was previously utilized by ShareIT, Zapya, Xender, and ShareAll, among other peer-to-peer file-sharing programs.
The tech giant hasn’t disclosed an official release date, but the fact that it’s under beta testing implies an impending rollout that might increase consumer convenience and security globally.
