Internship Objectives
The dtic Internship Programme seeks to give qualified applicants the chance to advance their knowledge, expertise, and career, setting them up for successful entry into the workforce. Minimum Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in one of the specified fields (NQF level 6 and above) is required of applicants. A strong academic record will be beneficial as well.
Key Responsibilities
The DTIC Internship Programme is designed to provide interns with a wide range of responsibilities, guaranteeing that they not only make a substantial contribution to their fields but also acquire a comprehensive understanding of the economic environment. It will be expected of interns to:
Engage in tasks and projects related to their field of study: Take part in activities and projects that are relevant to their field of study: Interns will work on particular projects that correspond with their educational background, giving them the chance to put their theoretical knowledge to use in real-world situations. For them to develop their expertise and make a significant contribution to their team, they need this practical experience.
Contribute to the department’s initiatives aimed at economic development: Every intern will help the DTIC achieve its overarching objectives of competitiveness and economic growth. Research, analysis, and the application of plans aimed at improving South Africa’s economic position on a national and international level may be required for this.
Participate in workshops, meetings, and other learning opportunities: The Dtic is dedicated to ensuring its interns’ ongoing professional growth. Participants will thus have access to workshops and seminars covering a variety of topics, from the development of soft skills to technical skills. Participation and observation during departmental meetings will also offer a platform for learning.
Learn about government systems and processes:Â Anyone hoping to have an influence in the public sector must be aware of the complexities of government operations. Interns will learn how decisions are made, how policies are created, and how different departments work together to accomplish national goals.
Provide support in the creation and dissemination of communications materials: Opportunities will arise for individuals working in public relations, marketing, or communications to help with message development, social media management, and other communication channels in order to effectively communicate the goals and accomplishments of the DTIC.
Collaborate with seasoned professionals and other interns: One of the most important aspects of an internship is networking. In addition to working with more seasoned professionals and receiving guidance and mentoring, interns will have the opportunity to cooperate with one another, developing a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
Assist in data analysis and report generation: Interns in data science, statistics, and economics will help analyze economic data to help guide strategies and policy decisions. They will gain knowledge on how to write reports that condense difficult data into useful insights.
Engage in community outreach and stakeholder engagement: One aspect of the DTI’s mission is to interact with a range of stakeholders, such as local communities, businesses, and other governmental organizations. Interns have the opportunity to plan and take part in outreach programs, workshops, and discussions that promote economic initiatives and teamwork.
