Many people spend their life searching for the fountain of youth. I have spent mine searching for the ideal routine. But as technology has given the color-coded paper calendars a transformation into cloud-based scheduling apps, the routine has continued to elude me. It is because each day is a new day and is as unpredictable as a ride on a rodeo bull and over seemingly as quickly.
But as I examined the routines of painters, writers, and composers, as well as philosophers and scientists, I have become convinced that a routine is more than a luxury. It is the most essential for your work. When you have a solid routine, it fosters a well-worn groove for your mental energy and helps stave off the tyranny of moods.
After observing several common elements in the lives of some of the healthier geniuses, the following are the few that allow you to pursue the luxury of a productivity-enhancing routine:
1- Making up your bed:
The first successful habit begins just after waking up i.e. making up your bed. It is because making your bed well teaches you how to do everything else well. That is why it is the most important step in the military. It teaches you that once you start with a good step, you get back to success at the end of the day.
2- Focus on breathing:
It is important that you meditate once you have made your bed. You must meditate for about 15 to 20 minutes because it helps you to clear your mind for entering the day ahead.
3- Exercise:
In order to prepare your body for the day, do some kind of exercise as soon as you get up. Doing any kind of intense movements such as jumping jacks or crunches, can get you moving and well-prepared for daily activities.
4- Do breakfast:
This is the time your body and brain need energy for performing activities of the entire day. So, eat a healthy breakfast and have tea that stimulates your brain and increases your focus throughout the day. Most people don’t take tea as important, but good tea can make you feel much better and energized.
5- Create a to-do list:
At the start of the day, create your to-do list so that you have all the tasks in mind that needed to be completed in a day. Don’t make a long to-do list that is impossible to accomplish, instead, just write three or four tasks that you can complete easily.
6- Begin with the hardest task:
When you are set to begin with your tasks, deal with the hardest one first. It is because at the start of your day, you have more energy and your brain is much more relaxed to tackle the most difficult issues at hand.
7- Manage the first hour of your day:
The first hour of your day can influence the working of your entire day. Paying attention to this first hour, you can start your day with momentum and can get done with most of your items on the to-do list.
