WhatsApp will be introducing QR Code feature that will let users add contacts on their account. The QR feature was initially introduced last year in 2018 but it was never displayed in the app.
According to WABetaInfo, a website and a Twitter account that keeps a close eye on the latest WhatsApp features, the application would be enabled with a QR Code in the coming WhatsApp version.
In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.189 update, WhatsApp is working on a QR Code shortcut (it’s not visible yet). The feature will be (obviously, you know ??) enabled in future.” – WABetaInfo
Although another Facebook-owned company Instagram has the QR feature already integrated, WhatsApp may get a step ahead towards blending both WhatsApp and Instagram.
How will it work?
A unique QR code would be available for every WhatsApp account and the users will need to scan the QR Code of other users. With QR Code, another account will be added to WhatsApp contact list immediately. The users can also disable QR Code if they do not want to use it from their WhatsApp settings.
Currently, the QR code is used to allow WhatsApp users to use their account on Laptop/desktop. Only one QR connection is allowed for one WhatsApp account. It means you can use WhatsApp web on the only machine instead of multiple.
