Two new features have been added to Instagram’s Notes function, which launched in December 2022. The little text bubble that displays next to friends’ names on the Instagram Direct Message (DM) page now includes music and translation options, according to the social media behemoth owned by Meta.
Before, users of Notes could only share emojis and brief text. Instagram wants to draw in more users with the addition of music and translations.

In their notes, users can now post a 30-second song clip. This function is comparable to the away messages that were once well-liked on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Users can optionally add a caption to the music note to reach their target audiences, such as lovers, ex-lovers, friends, or foes.
Click the “plus” button next to your profile photo, then select the music note icon to add a song. By doing this, you will be directed to a screen where you may search for your song, select your 30-second clip, add optional text, and then click “done” to publish.
Teenagers, who have been using Notes more than adults in the U.S., are anticipated to be the target market for this feature. In the US, kids produce notes at a pace ten times higher than adults, claims Meta. Over 100 million teen accounts have swapped notes in the past two months, and nearly one in five notes written by teenagers receives a response.
Translating notes from Instagram:
Users of Instagram can touch Notes to translate them as well. Users who want to communicate with people from various nations or who have acquaintances who speak different languages will find this option helpful. Touch on a note to translate it, and Instagram will do the rest.
Using Instagram Notes:
Click on the friend you wish to send a note to on Instagram’s DM tab. This will launch Instagram Notes. Select the Notes icon by clicking the “plus” sign next to your profile photo. Next, compose your message and include a song or translation if you’d like. When finished, click “send” to distribute your note.
Twitter Fleets versus Instagram Notes:
Like Twitter Fleets, Instagram Notes lets users submit transitory remarks that vanish after 24 hours. While Twitter Fleets are public, Instagram Notes are mainly geared toward private communications. Twitter Fleets do not allow users to add music or translations, but Instagram Notes does.
