Punjab to Offer Foreign Language Courses

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sanctioned the introduction of foreign language courses, including;

  • Korean
  • Japanese
  • German, Chinese, and Arabic across Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) institutes.

In a meeting held to finalize TEVTA’s Mapping Plan, CM Maryam emphasized the importance of innovative technical training to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment. She highlighted the necessity for market-driven courses in trades offered by TEVTA.

The Chief Minister underscored the inclusion of advanced courses in fields such as building, textiles, garments, tourism, hospitality, information technology, automobile assembly and repair, food processing, biomedical technology, light engineering, renewable energy, and surgical instruments.

Maryam Nawaz directed relevant authorities to forge partnerships with leading industries to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placements. She also instructed the introduction of foreign language programs in TEVTA institutions, including Korean, Japanese, German, Chinese, and Arabic.

Additionally, CM Maryam endorsed the establishment of the Punjab Overseas Employment Promotion Authority for Skilled Jobs and directed collaboration with major construction developers to outsource the ‘Heavy Machinery Driving/Operator Course.’

Furthermore, she approved the construction of 45 welding workshops in nine cities and the development of state-of-the-art welding and construction labs in Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, Attock, Taxila, Layyah, and Mianwali.

Maryam Nawaz supported a proposal to recruit 1,000 employees to address human resource shortages in TEVTA and instructed an increase in the monthly budget for purchasing training materials for practical training, allocating Rs 2,000 per student per month.

Lastly, she directed relevant authorities to issue guidelines ensuring the biometric attendance of teachers.
