LinkedIn has just launched three free AI professional certification programs until December 31. This initiative aims to meet the rising demand for AI skills in the workforce.

LinkedIn now offers three focused certificates at no cost:

1. LinkedIn Recruiter and AI-Driven Talent Acquisition

   • Advanced LinkedIn Recruiter tools and strategies
   • Techniques for candidate search, filtering, and outreach

2. Generative AI for Recruiting

   • Insights on AI’s role in HR, with DEI considerations
   • Six expert-led courses, including “Generative AI in HR” and “Harnessing AI for Effective Interviewing”

3. Generative AI for Learning and Development

   • AI in organizational learning and personalized training strategies
   • Courses on upskilling, taught by industry experts like Dr. Terri Horton

Addressing the Skills Gap

LinkedIn says 68% of job skills will shift by 2030, making AI upskilling essential. LinkedIn’s chief economist Karin Kimbrough has emphasized that businesses must invest in AI training to stay competitive, noting that companies actively upskilling their workforce in AI are already seeing productivity gains.

“More companies are realizing how critical it is to cultivate AI skills inside their current staff in addition to employing fresh personnel with AI expertise. Leaders who don’t invest in reskilling and upskilling their teams risk falling behind competitors who are already seeing productivity boosts from embracing this technology.”

In addition, Google has introduced a new “Prompting Essentials” course on Coursera, covering practical AI applications, from email adaptation to data visualization. Unlike LinkedIn’s free courses, this requires a Coursera membership.
