Paypal users in US will now be able to send and receive individual payments over Facebook Messenger, was announced by the company this morning. This integration with Messenger’s platform also includes PayPal first customer service bot for handling customer questions in case of any help. Customers can now link their PayPal account with Facebook Messenger to receive notifications and receipts from their transactions within Messenger.
Paypal users can pay their friends right inside the Messenger. This will shift a portion of Paypal $80 million payment volume to Facebook Messenger App.
It is not the first time Paypal has integrated with the messaging service. It is already available via Apple i-message and can be launched by Siri. With the bot, users of PayPal will be able to get customer service help by chatting with it.
The option is currently available for Paypal users in USA, it remains to be seen how soon PayPal begins to operate in messenger for other countries.
