The UAE has turned a new page in its Healthcare Minister. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh has officially been named the country’s new Minister of Health a move announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with the approval of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This change also marks the end of a significant chapter. AbdulRahman Al Owais, who guided the nation’s health sector for many years, is stepping into a new role as Minister of State for National Council Affairs. Sheikh Mohammed personally thanked him for his dedication and the progress achieved under his watch.
Al Sayegh isn’t new to big responsibilities. Since 2018, he has served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he focused on strengthening the UAE’s global economic ties from Asia to the Commonwealth of Independent States. Beyond diplomacy, his career stretches across some of the UAE’s most important organizations, including ADNOC, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, and Emirates Nature WWF. He also co-chairs the UAE-UK Business Council and has held leadership roles at Aldar Properties and Masdar.

With a degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States, Al Sayegh blends policy, business, and sustainability know how.
