Over the last few years, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has been promoting the research culture and conducting national, international conferences. In a short period of two and half years, eleven research journals have been published and about twenty conferences were arranged which speaks volume about the culture of the university.
Founded on May 1974, Allama Iqbal Open University or AIOU is a public research university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. On Tuesday, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui headed a meeting that announced the first ever projects, startups and career expo will be held here to provide opportunities to build future entrepreneurs, bridge the gap between industry and researches and to give platform to the students to build their career in the future.
For this purpose, the university has setup a new office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC). The aim is to provide the bridge between researches and the industries.
Through this activity, the AIOU was going to provide the students an opportunity to directly interact with the job market and industry as well as corporate sector – Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui
We are planning to hold this multidisciplinary event within next couple of months and expecting that the students, not only from the AIOU but other Universities as well, will be participating
The whole concept behind this idea is to broaden the thinking horizon of the students, to let them think beyond the traditional job seeking mindset and to expose them to the world of entrepreneurship/opportunities so they can empower themselves and create more job opportunities in the future.
