BlackBerry Limited announced last September that the company will no longer be producing its own mobile devices. It publicized that all of the company’s internal hardware efforts will be outsourced to third-party phone makers like Chine’s TCL Corporation.
The partnership with TCL by the Canadian company got finalized in December in which global rights of BlackBerry name were handed over to the Chinese manufacturer. It now seems that TCL is all set up for using the brand name. A brief preview of the long-awaited BlackBerry Mercury device has been recently revealed by the TCL President Steve Cistulli. Scheduled to be launched at CES, the new device is expected to support a physical keyboard. Chinese corporation will be supervising the design and built of the BlackBerry handset.
The buzz for the upcoming keyboard-equipped mercury pack entails a 4.63 inches display along with an unusual 1620×1080 resolution with a pixel density of 420 ppi. A 3GB of RAM as well as 32GB of internal storage are also going to be a part of the new smartphone. Mercury is not one of the first BlackBerry devices that TCL has been working on; it has earlier designed an Android powered DTEK50 and DTEK60.
