Dubai Launches ‘Salama’: AI-Powered Platform to Streamline Visa Services

Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has disclosed ‘Salama,’ an advanced AI-driven platform planned to upgrade the proficiency of residency and visa services.

Unveiled at the Media Council

Under the theme “Media Vision Shaping the Future,” the declaration was made at the Fourth Annual Media Council. Along with key specialists and individuals of the media, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, attended the ceremony.

What is Salama?

Salama is a smart platform that simplifies visa and residency procedures by eliminating paperwork and automating key transactions. With this system, users can:

  • Renew or cancel residency permits in seconds
  • Get instant responses to visa-related inquiries
  • Complete payments seamlessly without visiting service centers

Initially launched for individuals, Salama will soon be extended to companies, further transforming government services.

Lieutenant General Al Marri emphasized that digital transformation is more than just technology, it’s about enhancing customer experience and government efficiency. 

He stated.

“This initiative aligns with UAE Vision 2071 and Dubai’s Digital Transformation Strategy, making services more accessible, faster, and user-friendly,”

The platform can be accessed using UAE Pass and smart channels. A live demonstration at the event showcased a residency renewal in just a few seconds.

Step 1: Log in via UAE Pass

Step 2: AI retrieves user details and dependent information

Step 3: Select the renewal or cancellation option

Step 4: The system processes the request and payment

Step 5: Updated residency permit is emailed instantly

With support for 40+ languages and plans for expansion, Salama ensures inclusivity and convenience for a diverse population.

Colonel Khalid bin Madia Al Falasi, Assistant Director General of Digital Services Affairs at GDRFA Dubai, called Salama a “game-changer in government service delivery.”

“By leveraging AI, Salama personalizes interactions and ensures fast, precise processing. This is the future of smart government services.”

It is now one of the fastest government services in the world for residents to renew their visas, taking about 10–20 seconds.
