WhatsApp is now working on a new feature to allow users to edit already sent messages. This feature, initially being tested for iPhone users is much needed because currently the app only allows you to delete messages for everyone instead of editing an already sent message.
Apparently, the inspiration for not allowing messages to be edited came from one of the world’s biggest social media platforms Twitter. Users can only delete the tweet, which is the case currently with WhatsApp.
In order to edit an already sent message, the user will need to tap and hold on to a chat bubble and then select the edit option. This feature is un-earthed by WaBetaInfo, an organization that keeps a close eye on every new WhatsApp feature before the market gets to know it. About the duration a message can be edited, it is initially revealed that users can edit a message for up to 15 minutes after it is sent. Interestingly, Telegram gives users 48 hours to edit a message once sent.
The ability to edit sent messages will be released in a future update of the app. The company may roll out the feature to selected WhatsApp beta testers.
