Fiverr is retiring its AI Personal Assistant. The tool closed to new subscribers on 1 September 2026, and on 1 October 2026 it switches off for everyone who still has it, including people who get it through Seller Plus. From that date, new client enquiries arrive in your inbox directly and you answer them yourself from the first message. Every other Seller Plus benefit carries on unchanged.
What changes on each date
Fiverr has published two dates in its Personal Assistant help documentation. On 1 September 2026 the tool stopped accepting new subscribers, so if it was not already active on your account you can no longer switch it on. On 1 October 2026 it is removed for everyone, automatically. You do not need to cancel anything or click anything, and your existing conversations stay where they are in your inbox.
The change runs on both sides of the conversation. Fiverr’s client-facing documentation for the AI Personal Assistant for clients gives the same 1 October date and tells buyers their messages will go straight to the freelancer from the start. So this is not a case of the assistant moving behind the scenes. Fiverr is taking the AI layer out of pre-order chat entirely.
Why is Fiverr removing a tool it spent a year building?
The stated reason is that Fiverr is moving upmarket toward more complex, higher-value projects, and wants direct personal communication between freelancers and clients. That lines up with the direction of its own numbers. The marketplace has been trading volume for value, a shift visible in the fact that Fiverr lost 21.9% of its buyers while spend per buyer rose 15.6%. When each conversation is worth more, an AI screening layer between a serious buyer and the person doing the work starts to look like friction rather than leverage.
Three things worth saving before 1 October
When the tool is removed, the material you built inside it goes with it. Three pieces are worth pulling out into a document this month.
Your Knowledge base. This is where you defined your tone, your rules of engagement, your service do’s and don’ts, your requirements for custom offers, and how assertively you wanted pricing handled. You wrote that. It is a finished description of how you sell, and it converts directly into Gig FAQs, saved replies, and the opening paragraphs of your proposals. Copy it out before it disappears.
Your performance analytics. The Personal Assistant hub reports revenue driven, number of orders, average selling price, conversion rate within the first hour, and the share of first-time buyers it engaged. That dashboard only populates after at least 15 assistant conversations, so if yours has data it represents real history you cannot rebuild later. Screenshot it. The first-hour conversion figure in particular is a useful benchmark to measure your own reply speed against once you are answering manually.
The questions it kept answering. Every handover summary and saved conversation is evidence of what buyers actually ask you before they order. Read back through a month of them and you will find the same four or five questions. Those belong in your Gig description, because a question a buyer has to ask is a gap in what you published.
Turn your auto-replies back on
This is the detail most likely to catch people out. Fiverr disables your auto-replies while the Personal Assistant is active, so the two do not both fire at once. On 1 October the assistant vanishes, and if you never re-enable auto-replies you go from an always-on responder to nothing at all, without any announcement in your inbox.
Put a reminder in your phone for 1 October and check your auto-reply settings that day. An auto-reply is a weaker tool than the assistant was, since it cannot answer a pricing question or gather requirements, but a message that sets an expectation beats silence while you sleep.
The response-rate problem this creates in Pakistan
Fiverr confirmed that Personal Assistant replies counted positively toward your response rate, and recommended running it on Always on for exactly that reason. Remove it and the time-zone gap becomes visible to clients again.
Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5. A US client messaging at 9am Eastern reaches you at 6pm in Karachi, which is fine. The same client messaging at 5pm Eastern reaches you at 2am. Those late enquiries were the ones the assistant was quietly catching. Response rate feeds into Fiverr’s level requirements, so this is not only about winning the individual order.
Three practical adjustments. Turn on mobile push notifications for inbox messages, since the app lets you reply even though it does not let you edit assistant settings. Decide on a first-reply window you can actually hit, such as before 10am and before 11pm, and treat it as a commitment. And when you genuinely cannot answer for a day or more, set your status to Out of Office rather than leaving messages unanswered, because an away status is neutral where a slow reply is not.
Your first message is the product now
With AI out of pre-order chat on both sides, the first thing a buyer reads is something you wrote. A reply that answers the question that was asked, gives a price or a range, and proposes one clear next step will beat a polite paragraph that asks the buyer to explain their project again.
If you draft those replies with an AI tool of your own, that is a separate question from the one Fiverr just settled, and the platform’s expectations still apply. The AI disclosure rules on Fiverr and Upwork cover where you have to tell a client that AI was involved in the work itself.
Two questions people are asking
Does losing the Personal Assistant change my Seller Plus subscription? No. Fiverr states that all other Seller Plus benefits are unaffected. Only the assistant component is being withdrawn.
Will my past assistant conversations be deleted? No. Fiverr says existing conversations remain available in your inbox as normal after the shutdown.
