Amidst persistent conflicts, violence, human rights abuses, and climate crises, numerous female scientists find themselves compelled to flee their homes and nations. For many, continuing their studies becomes an insurmountable challenge after displacement.
Recognizing these hardships, the Women in Science Displacement Outreach Master’s Program (OWSD WISDOM) has been launched as an innovative response.
This initiative, spearheaded by OWSD (UNESCO), collaborates with universities in Jordan and Turkey. It aims to provide fully-funded master’s degree scholarships to female scientists who have sought sanctuary in these host countries.

Women refugees pursuing master’s degrees in the natural, engineering, information, and technological sciences are eligible to apply for the 2024 OWSD WISDOM Master’s scholarships.

Who Can Apply?
Additionally, candidates for master’s degrees in the natural, engineering, information, and technology sciences (STEM areas) who are refugee women are eligible to apply for the OWSD WISDOM scholarships. Applicants need to:
- Possess a legitimate refugee status (certificate of temporary protection, international protection, or application for international protection).
- Possess a bachelor’s degree from a research or academic institution (including a Center for International Research).
- Be in Turkey when submitting an application.
