The iPhone 16: Stepping into the Future
After much anticipation, Apple finally revealed its autumn lineup during a long keynote video on Monday, September 9. Which of the forecasts came true, and are the new items worthwhile purchasing?
Introduction of the Camera Control Button:
First off, all four of the iPhone 16 models now have the much-discussed Camera Control button for taking pictures. Press it once to instantly bring the camera out of standby, then press it again to snap a picture. There are additional features available, like a light press that will eventually have more functions and reveal new menu options.
Because it offers fantastic new functionality, I believe this to be the best new addition to the iPhone 16 series.
Action Button Replaces the Mute/Ring Switch:
As expected, the Action button has replaced the previous Mute/Ring switch on the iPhone 16. This change provides enhanced customization for users.
Improved Battery Life
A key selling point of the new iPhones is their longer battery life. Better battery life might be enough to convince many users to upgrade even in the absence of all the other new features.
Pricing Remains Unchanged
As anticipated below, the price of the iPhone has not increased overall, which is also good news in light of the previously reported price increases.
Design Changes: New Colors and Larger Screen Sizes
The colours of the iPhone 16 are the most obvious design change, but the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are also larger and have thinner screen borders. With screen sizes increasing to 6.3 and 6.9 inches, it is more important than ever to hold these phones in your hands before making a purchase.
Enhanced Cameras: Ultra-Wide Camera on the Pro Models
The cameras on all phones are now better, but the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max’s ultra wide camera, which increases resolution from 12 to 48 megapixels, stands out.
Above all, the presentation relied heavily on Apple Intelligence, which provided where and when specifics about what was to be released. For U.S. English users only, it will begin to roll out later this year. British English, for example, will be available in December.
Apple made it clear that the update was free and did not specify that it would only be available for two years, as it has done in the past with regard to SOS satellite messaging services.
It will be a major selling point for upgrades, and Apple’s demonstrations were highly convincing. The new iPhones may be extremely alluring when you consider the additional colours, better cameras, larger Pro screen sizes, and longer battery life.

Longer Battery Life and Thinner Bezels: iPhone 16 Pro
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg wrote a post on X that contains the report. He stated, “I expect the touch sensitive camera button to be on all iPhone 16 models tomorrow.” Both the Pro line’s thinner bezels and longer-lasting batteries are apparent. I do not anticipate that the $999 Pro entry fee will increase. AI and the A18 chip will be the main focal points everywhere.

Capture Button on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro
Gurman has now stated that he believes the new button that helps you take pictures and record video will be available on all four iPhone models this autumn, despite his earlier assertions that it might only be available on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
I’ve held that belief for a while, so either we’re both incorrect, or neither of us is.
iPhone 16 Pro: Layout
Although smaller bezels surrounding the screen have been anticipated in the past, Gurman now says they will be prominent enough to be seen. Given that many people use cases on their phones, this could result in an entirely edge-to-edge effect.
iPhone 16 Pro: Duration of Battery Life
Is there anyone you know who doesn’t want longer-lasting batteries? Not me either. It is therefore excellent news if a new processor, more intelligent software, or a larger cell can all work together to extend battery life.
iPhone 16 Pro Price
As recently as last week, there were rumours circulating that the new phones would become more expensive overall—possibly by $100. Although Gurman hasn’t stated anything about the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus, I doubt there will be a rise in those models. I think the regular models will be price-matched if the Pro and Pro Max are this year to last.
iPhone 16 And iPhone 16 Pro: Apple Intelligence
I completely agree that the A18 processor, which powers Apple Intelligence, will take centre stage during the keynote. Apple will support it now despite the fact that the new features won’t be available until later in the year. And I think they’ll do it convincingly enough to propel a supercycle.
