WhatsApp Channels, a feature that the social media giant claimed would make the app a “private broadcast messaging product,” was launched on Thursday by Meta Platforms.
Channels will be available to users first in Singapore and Colombia. According to the announcement, Meta will expand the tool’s availability to users in additional nations over the coming months.
The organization said clients will actually want to follow content on their leisure activities, sports groups, and updates from neighborhood authorities, and others. Followers would not be able to see the channel administrator’s profile pictures or contact information.
Also, supporters won’t have their telephone numbers uncovered.
The World Health Organization, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City will be the feature’s global launch partners.
