The Pokemon Go mania has confused many minds in the real world with the gaming world. Stirring the wonders of a child’s self-confidence, this game has turned into an obsession. The monsters of the gaming world are affecting the minds and many concerns are arising about the extreme use of virtual-reality technology.
With these rising concerns, Iran has placed a ban on this augmented reality game. Government has made it illegal to download such games as it is creating security problems for the people and the country. According to officials, this game is posing a threat to its younger generation. It has not been officially launched in Iran, but it is being downloaded with different GPS locations or by virtual private networks. Even the internet filtering in Iran has not stopped people from accessing blocked apps and websites.
According to ISNA news agency, Abolhasan Firouzabadi, who is the head of Supreme Council of Virtual Space, stated that
“Any game that wants to operate nationwide in Iran needs to obtain permission from the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance, and the Pokemon Go app has not yet requested such permission”.
With arising security concerns, many other countries along with Iran are placing restrictions on Pokemon Go.
