Jack Ma, is currently the richest man in China. He was broke for the early part of his life but he was never mentally poor. He got rejected for many jobs and failed at doing business too initially, but he understood that being broke is just a temporary situation but staying poor is a lifestyle.
The difference between being broke and being poor is a fine line. Being broke means you do not have money but being poor means, you are making yourself a victim of the system. It means you are complaining about the system, and resources and not doing anything to change your current circumstances.
Difference Between Poor and Broke:
Being poor is a state of mind, poor people assume that everything is hard and almost not possible. They cannot try new things because of their inability to take a risk. On the other hand, being broke is just a temporary state. You understand that you need to approach life with a positive mindset, take action, and make things happen.
The famous Tony Robbins theory ‘power positions‘ was taken up by Harvard University for research. It identifies the state of mind and body. According to Tony, you can not achieve your goals unless you are willing to change your behavior and you can only change your behavior by changing your current emotional state. The same actions to achieve goals won’t yield different results. Actions can only be changed if you are willing to bring a physiological change in your body’s biochemistry in order to change your current behavior. It means, changing your mind and letting the mind take control of your body to do different actions in order to achieve your goals.
There is an amazing post trending on the internet. People associate that post with Jack Ma, but I could not find any authentication for this statement. Nonetheless, the statement is so powerful that it summarizes the difference between being broke and being poor.
“The worst people to serve are the Poor people. Give them free, they think it’s a trap. Tell them it’s a small investment, they’ll say can’t earn much. Tell them to come in big, they’ll say no money. Tell them to try new things, they’ll say no experience. Tell them it’s traditional business, they’ll say hard to do. Tell them it’s a new business model, they’ll say it’s MLM. Tell them to run a shop, they’ll say no freedom.
Tell them to run a new business, they’ll say no expertise. They do have somethings in common: They love to ask google, listen to friends who are as hopeless as them, they think more than a university professor and do less than a blind man. Just ask them, what can they do. They won’t be able to answer you. My conclusion: Instead of your heart beats faster, why not you just act faster a bit; instead of just thinking about it, why not do something about it. Poor people fail because of one common behaviour: Their Whole Life is About Waiting.”
The above lines beautifully depict a state of mind. Joys, sorrows, beliefs, and determination are all associated with a mental state.
This is why if you want to change your current money state and get rid of poverty, change your behavior by changing your mind because it is the nucleus of all actions. Rich people are proactive, they take care of their minds and body, and they believe in taking risks and actions. Most importantly, they have a positive behavior to approach money.
