Thanks to a new feature, users can now mention other people in their stories or status updates on WhatsApp.
The company claims that users can now tag close friends in their stories and that friends will be allowed to re-share the story.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has included the ability to “like” stories and status updates.
Users may now like a story, just like they can like a Facebook post, when before they could see how many people had viewed it.
Crucially, likes and comments on a story stay secret; the only person who can see who liked it is the one who shared it.
When someone is referenced in a story or status on WhatsApp, the mentioned person receives a notification letting them know they have been tagged and gives them the option to re-share the story.
In addition, no outsider will be able to see who has been referenced in a status update or story. Despite being announced, this functionality might not be accessible to all users right away on WhatsApp.
Everyone will get access in a little while.
Additionally, WhatsApp stated that to support users in maintaining relationships with significant others, additional capabilities will be added to the status and updates tab in the upcoming months.
