Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif met with Mr Zhu Zhaojiang. He is the chairman and founder of the Chinese company Transsion Holdings, in Shenzhen.
Interest in investment potential in the Pakistani mobile manufacturing unit of Transsion Holdings and four areas of the Pakistani economy — fintech, current agriculture, electric bikes, and cell phone creation — was shown during the conversation.
The Prime Minister stated on the occasion that Pakistan’s government still makes provisions for international investors and business people. He extended an invitation to Transsion Holdings to manufacture locally in Pakistan and export overseas.
The Prime Minister was given a briefing by the Chairman of Transsion Holdings regarding the company’s present activities in Pakistan, its worldwide exports, and future investment initiatives in Pakistan during the meeting.
He told the prime minister that the corporation already employs over 5,000 Pakistanis per day at a factory it has set up in Pakistan to produce mobile phones.
The corporation is eager to enhance its investment in Pakistani mobile phone manufacturing since this will boost exports from Pakistan following mobile phone production.
Attending the meeting were federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Jam Kamal, Attaullah Tarar, and Minister of State for Telecommunications and Information Technology Shazia Fatima Khawaja.
Prominent industry leaders from the Pakistan mobile phone sector and Transsion Holding partners in Pakistan were also in attendance. These included Mr. Zeeshan Mianoor, CEO of Inovi Telecom; Mr Muzzafar Paracha, CEO of Airlink Communications; and Mr. Amir Allahwala, CEO of Techno Pak Electronics.
The meeting’s attendance of prominent figures from Pakistan’s mobile phone industry highlights the enthusiasm behind promoting the expansion of that country’s developing mobile phone sector. It is expected that important steps to support exports and local manufacturing in the industry under China’s guardianship will be explored.
