Gemini Rolls Out Free Personalized AI Image Generation in the US

Google is making another Gemini AI feature available to more users.

The company announced on Monday that personalized AI image generation is now free for eligible Gemini users in the United States. Until now, the feature was limited to subscribers of the Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans.

The tool is powered by Google’s Nano Banana image model. It creates images based on what Gemini already knows about you, reducing the need for detailed prompts.

AI Images Based on Your Interests

Google first revealed the feature in April as part of its Personal Intelligence experience.

When Personal Intelligence is enabled, Gemini learns more about your preferences and interests from linked Google services. Among these, there are Google Photos, YouTube, Gmail, and Google Search.

That knowledge allows Gemini to draw more personalized images.

Such as no longer needing to specify all your hobbies in a prompt. So instead of requesting Gemini to add things such as coffee or baking, you could just request an illustration of yourself alongside your favourite things. Gemini fills in the gaps, using data it has already been granted access to.

Gemini Can Use Your Photos

The feature goes a step further than text prompts.

Gemini can also pull in pictures that are sitting in your Google Photos library. This means you no longer have to upload pictures each time you want AI to render an image of yourself.

The experience is designed to make image generation faster and more personalized.

Personal Intelligence Remains Optional

Google says personal intelligence is completely optional.

Users choose which Google apps Gemini can access. The feature only works after permission is granted.

Once enabled, Personal Intelligence is used by default for new prompts. If you change your mind, you can switch it off at any time from the Tools menu.

Google Continues Expanding Gemini

Google introduced Personal Intelligence to U.S. users earlier this year. It became widely available in March.

More recently, the company expanded the feature to users in India and Japan.

Other Recent Gemini Announcements From Google: Some of these are a new Daily Brief feature, a revamped app interface, support for the Gemini Omni AI video model, and an AI assistant dubbed Gemini Spark.

Gemini Keeps Growing

As part of a push to strengthen its grip in the AI sector, Google is drawing more users into Gemini.

The chatbot also crossed 750 million monthly active users earlier this year, placing it among the largest AI assistants in the world.

Google offers many more users access to one of Gemini’s most advanced creative tools by making AI image generation personalized and free.
