A team of ex-Twitter engineers is developing a new platform to assist users in using AI to process news and information. This past weekend, Particle. the news went into private beta. It provides a “multi-perspective” news reading experience that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to summarize the news while trying to pay writers and publishers fairly.
Sara Beykpour, a former senior director of product management at Twitter, founded Particle last year to utilize AI to make it simple to stay up to date on news.
“It seems like we just have time for headlines sometimes. We also want to learn more quickly,” she stated in the Threads startup’s introduction. “We are just beginning to use AI to change how we engage with news.”
News consumers can receive a concise, bulleted synopsis of the story using Particle, which gathers data from multiple sources. Readers can opt to “learn about how a story has unfolded over time” or utilize the synopsis to catch up, according to Beykpour.
A wide range of political news sources, including reputable publications like The New York Times and The Guardian, will be included. However, the AI summaries won’t produce factual and verified information derived from occasionally erroneous news stories.
