Google’s new AI-powered feature can turn photos of your outfits into a virtual closet. The feature appears to take inspiration from Cher’s famous digital wardrobe in the movie “Clueless.” It is now available to everyone in the U.S., Brazil, and India. Both iOS and Android users can access it in these markets.
Google first announced the feature earlier this year. The company planned to start rolling it out during the summer. Android users got access first in June. Now, the virtual closet is available to both Android and iOS users in the supported countries.
The idea of a digital closet in “Clueless” showed Cher’s wealthy lifestyle. She owned so many clothes that she needed a digital system to organize them. The system also helped her decide what to wear. Today, you do not need to be a wealthy teenager from Beverly Hills to use a similar tool.
Google’s version uses AI to create a digital copy of your wardrobe. It looks at the clothes you have worn in your photos. The feature then organizes those items in a virtual closet. You can also filter your clothes by category. These categories include tops, bottoms, jewelry, and other items.

You can then mix and match the items in your closet. This makes it easier to create different outfit combinations. You can see how your existing clothes work together. The feature can also help you keep track of the items you already own.
Google says the virtual closet is built to assist users. The company also says your clothing data is not shared with third parties. This includes retailers and other outside companies. Your information about what you wear is therefore kept separate from retail services.
The wider rollout of the virtual closet comes with several other Google Photos updates. One new feature lets users select, brighten, and share photos with a single prompt in Gemini Spark. Google is also improving its Markup tool. The company has added more Remix templates that use AI to transform photos.
The Gemini Spark feature has one limitation. Users in the U.S. need a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription to access it. The feature is part of Google’s broader push to bring more AI tools into Google Photos.
Google is also making changes to the Markup tool. Users can now use a redacting pen to blur sensitive details. This can include information such as license plates. The update also adds precise thickness sliders. These controls make it easier to create custom sketches.
The updated Markup tool also gives users more font choices. You can select from different fonts when adding text to photos. This gives users more control over how their edits look.
Android users are getting another update as well. Google is introducing new photo filters called “Moods.” These filters can give photos different visual styles. Some options are inspired by 35mm film. Others recreate the look of early-2000s digital cameras.
The new tools add more ways to organize and edit photos. The virtual closet also brings a new use for existing outfit photos. Together, these updates show how Google is adding more AI-powered features to the Google Photos experience.
