Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup. The platform lets users build software projects by deploying multiple agents in parallel workspaces. Axios originally reported the news of the deal. Conductor also shared the update on its company blog.
“I have big news: Conductor is joining Meta,” wrote Charlie Holtz, the startup’s founder and CEO, on Wednesday. “We have some big, crazy plans for the next interface,” he added. He teased that the team would have “something new” for customers to try by “early next year.”
On X, Holtz expressed excitement about his new team. He stated he looks forward to working with Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer. He also highlighted Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta’s Superintelligence Labs. “They’ve been on an absolute tear, and I’m convinced MSL has the highest talent density of all the labs,” he added.

Conductor was founded in 2024. It launched its core product just last summer. The company provides agentic teams that operate in the cloud, locally, or on mobile devices. These tools help software engineers work on different parts of a project at the same time. The agents used on the platform are not built in-house. Instead, they come from major AI labs like Anthropic and OpenAI.
Holtz clarified the operational timeline for current users. The conductor’s core features will remain active until early next year. However, the company’s cloud service will shut down on November 20. Conductor will begin deleting user cloud data after that date.
Meta has spent recent months trying to catch up in artificial intelligence. The company previously lagged behind rivals in consumer AI services. In August, Meta launched Muse Code, its own proprietary coding agent. Meanwhile, its Muse agents are seeing strong adoption. Meta recently reported that the service surpassed 10 million users. The company has made several key AI acquisitions over the past year. Those deals included Moltbook, the viral agent platform that recently made headlines.
