OpenAI is preparing to step into the hiring world with a brand new AI-powered jobs platform, expected to launch by mid-2026. The platform, called the OpenAI Jobs Platform, will use artificial intelligence to connect businesses with talent more efficiently, giving companies and job seekers a smarter way to find the right match.
The company says this initiative will also provide a dedicated track for small businesses and local governments, helping them tap into AI-driven solutions without the high costs usually tied to recruitment.
Alongside this, OpenAI plans to roll out AI fluency certifications through its OpenAI Academy starting in late 2025. These certifications aim to prepare workers for the future job market by boosting their AI skills. OpenAI has already partnered with Walmart and has set an ambitious goal of certifying 10 million Americans by 2030.

Industry experts believe this move positions OpenAI in direct competition with LinkedIn, a Microsoft owned platform that has also integrated AI tools in recent years. Interestingly, Microsoft is OpenAI’s largest backer making this a bold step into new territory.
While concerns remain about AI disrupting traditional jobs, OpenAI leaders argue that the focus should be on equipping people with the right skills. As OpenAI’s Applications CEO Fidji Simo explained in a blog post, the aim is not only to prepare people for future opportunities but also to help businesses find the right talent in a rapidly changing job market.
With this new platform, OpenAI is signaling that its ambitions go far beyond ChatGPT eyeing a bigger role in how people work, learn, and connect with employers in the years ahead.
