Jim Rhon, a motivational speaker famously said, you are an average of the five people you spend the most time with. The statement refers to the law of averages. It means, your circle of closest friends determines who you are and what you want to be in life. The statement points out the influence of people you hang out with.
What does that mean?
It means choosing a friend who tells you what you really need to hear and always puts a fire in your heart to help you improve and progress in life.
The Perspective:
If you are going to spend time with your friends and allow them to be in your life then make sure, the people you allow are worth adding to your life and deserve to be your friend.
It is too paramount to your own development to not give the right people the impetus to effect, make you prosper and be able to influence you.
If your friends do not talk about opportunities and play their role in your betterment, you better change your friends. It is important to surround yourself with the right people, they should support you and lift you higher in life.
Whether you like it or not, you are greatly influenced by your friends, and closest circle because, they affect your way of thinking, your perspective, and also your decisions. Research has also shown us that we’re largely affected by our environment than we actually think.
Someone rightly said, sit with the winners, the conversation is different. Choose people who are inspired, motivated, passionate, and grateful about life and also teach you empathy.
While it is ideal to surround yourself with the right people, it is equally important to have a friend who is your best critique and tells you about your shortcomings. Such friends are a blessing, they help you in becoming a better version of yourself and they keep guiding you for improvement.
