Facebook Is Rolling Out a Full-Screen Video Feed Like TikTok

Facebook could soon have a very different look.

Meta is testing a redesign called Reimagine Experience. Instead of opening to the familiar Facebook feed, users would land on a full-screen stream of videos. The update is one of the biggest changes the platform has considered in years.

It’s a noticeable shift.

Facebook has always mixed photos, text posts, links, and videos in one place. Under the new design, video becomes the first thing people see. The company believes that’s how most users already consume content.

Meta says the change reflects today’s viewing habits. Short videos now attract more attention than many other types of posts. Rather than fighting that trend, the company is leaning into it.

A Meta spokesperson said the goal is to make Facebook more entertaining. At the same time, the company wants users to discover trusted creators and stay connected with friends and communities.

That doesn’t mean the old Facebook is disappearing.

People who like the current feed won’t lose it. The classic layout will still be available through another tab in the app. Users can move between the two experiences whenever they choose.

The rollout won’t happen everywhere at once.

Meta plans to test the feature in a small group of countries first. It is focusing on markets where video engagement is already strong. The company will likely use that feedback before expanding the redesign to more regions.

The comparison with TikTok is hard to ignore.

TikTok helped make the full-screen swipe experience popular. Opening the app takes users straight into an endless stream of videos. Facebook now appears to be following the same formula as competition for user attention continues to grow.

Meta has already pushed video across Instagram through Reels. Bringing a similar experience to Facebook feels like the next step in that strategy.

For now, many questions remain unanswered.

Meta has not released screenshots of the new interface. It also hasn’t shared a timeline for a wider launch. More details are expected once testing begins.

Whether users embrace the redesign is another question. Some may welcome a cleaner, video-first experience. Others may still prefer the Facebook they have used for years. Either way, the update shows where Meta believes social media is heading next.
